Last year the MCU ended the epic Phase 3, and although the Covid-19 pandemic prevented Marvel Studios from continuing its cinematic narrative, next year the franchise will be renewed with new productions that fans have been waiting for all of 2020. In addition , recently the mouse company revealed that it is developing a large number of series starring characters never seen before, and that they will come directly to Disney Plus.

Precisely one of the most dazzling announcements is that Marvel Studios is developing a series of Ironheart and Armor Wars, a show that will star War Machine (Don Cheadle). This news started some rumors about Downey Jr. reprising his role as Tony Stark for a few cameos, however, during a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the actor assured that although thanks to the MCU he had an “incredible 10-year career that was creatively satisfying,” he no longer has anything else to contribute to the beloved character (via ComicBook):

I did everything I could with that character and now I can do other things. Now, being middle-aged, you start to look back and realize that this is all part of the journey, and things end. I am fortunate and eternally grateful to have ended up where I am.

On the other hand, the actor clarified that although there are similarities between his occupations and those of Iron Man, he “is not Tony.” And just like the magnate’s revolutionary armor, the actor is sure that the key to a successful life and career is to evolve:

I had an incredible 10-year career with Marvel that gave me a creative boost. Now I have much more ambition to do things that I have not done before. Evolving is key, the worst thing you can do is get in your own way. Just in regards to my desire to be a fit father, husband, and citizen, it would be irresponsible of me not to keep my eyes ahead so I can prepare my mind for what’s to come and the transition.

Just as we previously mentioned, the MCU is getting a makeover and it seems unlikely that Marvel Studios will look back and bring back a character that even within its narrative has died. Last year he was inundated with rumors that the studio would find a way to revive Tony Stark for some juicy cameos, but everything indicates that Disney prefers to invest its money in new content for the public.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will begin next January with WandaVision, and a year full of great premieres awaits us on Disney Plus and the big screen: Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings, Eternals, Spider-Man 3, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and much more content that you can enjoy on Disney Plus.
