Marvel has confirmed that Chris Pratt’s character in “Guardians of the Galaxy” is bisexual and polyamorous. The 41-year-old American actor played Star Lord / Peter Quill in two films based on the comics, as well as two installments of the “Avengers” franchise.

The future of the character was uncertain after the second part of “Guardians of the Galaxy”, but was revived in a new comic by the writer Al Ewing. In the latest issue “Guardians Of The Galaxy: I Shall Make You A Star-Lord # 9”, the writer delves into the sexuality of the space cowboy, who embarks on a bisexual and polyamorous relationship with a couple formed by the characters Aradia and Mors.

The comic shows Star Lord’s devotion to the couple as they share a bathroom. He tells them, “you are my home” before snuggling with the two of them in the water. According to ScreenRant, the relationship lasts for more than 100 years.

It is unclear if the character’s sexuality will be incorporated into the portrayal of Pratt in any of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. This could generate controversy outside the screens, considering that last year Pratt was forced to defend the church he attends when actor Elliot Page accused him of belonging to a homophobic community.

In February 2019 the actor took to his Instagram stories to defend his place of worship when he responded to the accusations and wrote that “nothing could be further from the truth” and that his church “opens its doors to absolutely everyone.” He also said his church helped him get through his divorce from Anna Faris “despite what the Bible says about the end of marriages.”

“It was recently hinted that I belong to a church that ‘hates a certain group’ and is ‘infamous for its anti-LGBTQ stance.’ Nothing is further from reality“Said the actor on his Twitter account. “I belong to a Church that opens its doors to absolutely all people “.

Pratt also clarified that although “your faith is very important” it does not define you as a human being; that he is not a spokesman for the Church or for any group. “My values define who I am,” he said. “We need less hate in the world, no more. I am a man convinced that all people have the right to love whoever they want without being judged by others “.

Earlier this month, Elliot Page, formerly Ellen, revealed that she identifies as transgender and not binary. “To all trans people who face harassment, self-deprecation, abuse and threats of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better,” the 33-year-old actor said in a message on social networks.

Pratt has already played Star-Lord / Peter Quill in both films based on the comics, as well as two installments in the Avengers franchise. He will also appear in “Thor: Love And Thunder,” which will be released in May 2022, and in an upcoming third “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie that is scheduled to hit theaters in 2023.
