Brief silent film school to spend the remainder of the quarantine, here are classics in high quality and with subtitles in Spanish by DW Griffith, Fritz Lang, FW Murnau, Buster Keaton, Charles Chaplin and Ernst Lubitsch, among other great names of the best Cinema of all time.
I discovered on YouTube an extraordinary account called Lumiere Films that has key silent films restored in extraordinary quality and with subtitles (I mean subtitles of the intertitles, since they are silent films) in Spanish. So I made a selection of the 16 that seemed most recommended to me and then I added another four (here I privileged the quality of the subtitles, they are not so complex films to understand with English intertitles) that were not there and that also seemed valuable to me. for this kind of “little school of silent movies for the quarantine.” If they want to find more materials from that YouTube account, they find it here.
A detail: I left the international titles in English (even those of the films that are originally in German) since in Latin America and in Spain the titles in Spanish are sometimes different, and it is easier to go around if you want to find more information on each film. Another detail: if the subtitles in Spanish do not appear, go to the “wheel” of YouTube and in the films of “Lumiere Films” they are there. Below, then, the selection that goes from DW Griffith to Fritz Lang, from FW Murnau to Buster Keaton and from Charles Chaplin to Ernst Lubitsch, to name just a few big names in the best cinema of all time.
